About
Mr. Jeremy Cotten is a native of Fuquay-Varina in Wake County, North Carolina and currently resides in Raleigh.
He attended high school in Wake County where he was drafted in the 2nd Round (58th overall pick) of the 1998 Major League Baseball Draft and signed a professional contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for five seasons in the Pirates organization as third and first baseman. He was a Baseball America Top Prospect in 1998. He then returned to North Carolina to obtain his BA in Trust and Investment Management at Campbell University.
He then worked in the banking and wealth management industry for three years while earning numerous designations including the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER designation, series 7 and 66 licenses, and numerous insurance designations.
Mr. Cotten then returned to Campbell University's School of Law where he completed the advocacy track and earned his Law License in 2012. He then went out on his own to establish Cotten Law Firm offices in both Fuquay-Varina and Raleigh and has been serving the needs of his clients in central North Carolina counties ever since.
Married with two daughters, Mr. Cotten enjoys working outdoors, gardening/landscaping, and woodworking. He is also an animal lover with two dogs, a Golden Retriever and King Charles Cavalier, and two cats.

Personal Life & Community Involvement
When he's not in a courtroom, attorney Jeremy Cotten is usually on a bike. Jeremy trains 10–12 hours a week on the roads and gravel around Fuquay-Varina, most of it before sunrise, and races competitively across the Southeast and beyond.
This past July 4th, the Cotten Firm was a proud sponsor of the Firecracker Ride benefiting the fight against multiple sclerosis — a hometown event that brings riders of all levels together for a great cause, and one the firm plans to support for years to come.
Jeremy is also a regular at the Salty Turtle 100K in Topsail Beach, North Carolina, a coastal century-in-kilometers hosted by Salty Turtle Beer Company that has become one of his favorite events on the calendar — equal parts competition and community.
The highlight of his 2026 season came in May at Unbound Gravel in Emporia, Kansas — widely considered the toughest single-day gravel race in the world. After months of dedicated preparation, Jeremy covered 206 miles of Kansas gravel with more than 10,000 feet of climbing in roughly 13 hours, pushing through rain, mud, and late-day heat to earn his finish.
For Jeremy, the discipline is the point. The same qualities that get a rider through mile 170 of a 206-mile race — preparation, persistence, and refusing to quit when things get hard — are the qualities he brings to every client's case.
